Whether you are cleaning your home in an attempt to sell or still looking for your new home, one thing that will always be on your to-do list is spring cleaning. There are plenty of ways to get your spring cleaning done but it can be unanimously agreed that not many of us enjoy cleaning. One of the best ways to ensure that your cleaning gets done this spring is to have a schedule set up. We all live busy lives and it can be quite easy to sweep spring cleaning under the rug in favor of watching tv or relaxing after work. If that’s the case for you, set up a schedule of small tasks that can get done during the week. You can tackle the deep cleaning initiatives during your week and get things done slowly. Another great way of easily getting ahead of the dreaded spring cleaning is by decluttering. You would be surprised how much of an effect decluttering has on your mental health and happiness. Simply, decluttering parts of your home can go a long way in making you feel better about being there. Think about it, when was the last time you were happy with how cluttered your closet or living room have become? We all at times have let clutter get the best of us and it’s always better to keep on top of it.

A further good idea for when you get into spring cleaning mode: start from the top. Imagine putting in hours of work to clean, polish or even wax your hardwood or tile floors only to get them dirty and dusty again when you clean the top of cabinets, or ceiling fans or the walls? Another thing to keep in mind is your walls and windows! We might forget how dusty or grimy the walls of our home can become and wipe them down with a hot, soapy towel can do a lot in helping our spring cleaning initiative. Your windows need to be cleaned inside and out as well. The winter can wreck dirty, grimy havoc on the outside of your windows so spraying them down and getting them truly clean can bring more light into your home which is the aim in spring cleaning!

When making a list of things that need doing this year don’t forget about your HVAC air filters and duct system. If you paid a lot for your HVAC system or bought a home that has one, you’ll want to be sure that it’s in its top shape as spring rolls around. This means ensuring that the filters are free of debris and grime. You may need to contact a professional to come out and give it a look over. They can even clean it and service any issues. This will be immensely helpful in keeping your home cool and hopefully preventing and big issues that would have arisen if you hadn’t had it serviced. Getting spring cleaning done can be a real pain but it’s entirely worth the effort. You’ll feel like you have a new home by the end of it, so start making that list!
