Are you looking for a home in or around the Milford area? It's good to do your research about the neighborhood you want to live in. Milford has a lot of interesting places to check out but the first on your list should be The Grey Towers National Historic Site. The Grey Towers is a beautiful castle-like mansion that was built in 1886 by James and Mary Pinchot as a summer retreat. James Pinchot was an advocate for forest preservation in the 19th century. He even encouraged his oldest son to take up a career in forestry. That son, Gifford, then went on to create the post for, and serve as, first Chief of the US Forest Service. You may recognize his name as the two-time Governor of Pennsylvania. The estate of Grey Towers and including its surrounding 102 acres of land were donated to the US Forest Service in 1963. You can now take guided tours of the mansion during their open season. It's a must see for anyone visiting or living in Milford. Absolutely stunning!

Another stop on your tour of Milford should be Raymondskill Falls if you’re in the mood for a hike. It’s touted as a peaceful and beautiful adventure into nature that shouldn’t be missed if you are in the area. The hike is short but can be steep with stairs that are manageable. There’s plenty of parting to enter the trail at different spots. The best feature of this hike is the huge, tall and very powerful waterfalls that you can admire. If you want something to eat post-hike you can stop in at the Waterwheel Cafe, Bakery and Bar. They have fantastic meal choices for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert as well as a great view while eating. The Watermill has a glass-walled dining area that shows you an interesting, one of a kind view of the old wheel and gears. They’ve been serving up food and entertainment since 1989 but the history of the mill spans back to the early 1800s. It’s a historical treat for Milford visitors.
